Aarhus
Danish business life is dominated by small and medium-sized companies (77 % employ less than 50 people). The typical Danish industrial concern has a single owner and is based on that person's ideas and savings.

Aarhus - the World's smallest Big City: Aarhus, with a population of 275,000, is located in the middle of the Jutland Peninsula. Aarhus' development in business, and its research, education, art, environment and cultural activities makes Aarhus the second most important centre in Denmark, after Copenhagen.

A high proportion of young people live in Aarhus. This is not surprising given the fact that there are numerous schools of higher education in Aarhus. The Aarhus School of Business is one of them.

The Aarhus School of Business: The Aarhus School of Business is an independent institution with university status. It enrolls 6000 students annually; 4000 day students and 2000 evening students and is the second largest business school in Denmark. The School employs approximately 650 individuals involved in research and teaching, library, computer, and administrative activities. It has two faculties - the Faculty of Business Administration and the Faculty of Modern Languages. Both faculties offer courses and confer degrees at Bachelor, Master and Ph.D. level.

The Faculty of Business Administration offer courses specializing in Business Administration, Economics, Information Science, International Business and Business law.

The Aarhus School of Business is at the forefront of internationalizing its programmes. It cooperates with more than 100 business schools and universities in the field of student exchange, faculty exchange and research.

Studying at The Aarhus School of Business:

The Academic Year: The School follows a two-semester academic year. The Autumn Semester begins in September and ends in January; the Spring semester begins in January/February and ends in May/June. Examinations take place in January and May/June.

Assessment: The analytical approach characterizing Danish higher education naturally influences the way you will be evaluated at your examination. Students should read, understand and analyze the required literature during the semester.

Grades are awarded according to the official Danish grading system, the so-called 13 scale system. One must obtain at least 6 points in order to pass an examination.

The ECTS grading system provides a way of measuring and comparing learning achievements, and transferring them from one institution to another. For a "translation" of the Danish 13 scale system into ECTS, see under "Student Information"/ECTS-programmes (http://www.hha.dk).
